Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Instructions to Authors


 Submission of Articles: All material can be send electronically, in microsoft word format, on journalrmc@gmail.com. The covering letter should include the corresponding authours’ full address, telephone (cell and land line)numbers, place of work, degrees and designations  and contact numbers along with emails of all the autours. Journal welcomes the submission of manuscripts that fulfill the general criteria  of significance and utility in medical practice . In order to comply the format of journal , visit website and look into format of any published article. Journal welcomes editorials, original articles, case reports, short communications and review article, with an emphasize on original articles. Undertaking: Give an undertaking that “This paper is the original research work of the authors and has not been submitted for a concurrent publication or published before in any other journal . Letter of undertaking can be download from web site www.journalrmc.com.

General Format: The length of paper should not exceed 2000 words(excluding abstract and references). Complete sentences, active verbs, past tense and the third person language should be used. Each abbreviation should be spelled out and introduced in parentheses the first  time it is used in the text

Title: Should be a brief phrase describing the contents of paper

Abstract: Should be informative and reflect the study conducted. It must be structured including background, methods, results, conclusion and key words. For original article around 250 words abstract suffices.

Introduction: Should provide a clear statement of problem , the relevant literature on the subject, and the proposed approach of the solution . It should be understandable from a broad range of scientific disciplines.

Methodology: Should be complete enough to allow experiments to be reproduced. Study design and methods for analysis of data must be described in detail . Sample size calculation, where applicable, and all the other requirements for methods sectioned must be accomplished .

Results: Should be presented with clarity and precision. The most outstanding findings, requiring complete  understanding , should be given in text, with mentioning the table, figures and graphs  numbers in the bracket at the end of sentence.   

Discussion : Repetition, of  what is already written  in results part, is not desirable . It is  important to compare the present work and to justify and rationalize the findings of present study. Limitations and future directions should be mentioned.     

Tables: They should be self-explanatory and should supplement, not duplicate the text. Each table must be cited in consecutive numerical order in the text.

Illustrations: Should be sharp and of high-quality. Colour illustrations will be considered for publication, but the author is responsible for all charges relating to separations and printing.

References :  In the text, a reference identified by means of number in superscript style that shall remain constant throughout the manuscript.  In the text , i.e., in introduction and discussion, references  must be followed in proper sequence in numerical manner. The  pattern approved in Vancouver. The number of references should be atleast 25 and 20% out of these must be of last 5 years.

Processing fees: Authours are required to pay amount as decided by editorial board for handling and publication of manuscript. Title of account for cross cheque is “Journal of Rawalpindi Medical College”

Authorship criteria:  According to ICMJE , it includes :1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work;  or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for work; 2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; 3. Final approval  of the version to be published ;4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved. On title page the authours contribution must be properly  given,

Plagiarism :   Verbatim  must be avoided and proper attribution  to the source must be made. Authours should run plagiarism check, with an acceptable similarity index of no more than 19%
